The Wounded Creative
In my experience with over 15 years in the helping professions, I have helped many individuals and couples find happiness and healing.
The person that I believe I am most equipped and experienced to help on this planet is the ‘wounded creative'. This could be a high-achieving & neurodivergent person who may or may not work professionally in the arts. Below is a “snapshot” of this client. Maybe you resonate with all of it or something within.
We shall call them ‘Alex.’
Alex’s Core Struggles:
Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, OCD, etc.) – Alex’s brain works differently. They experience hyperfocus and bursts of creativity, but also struggle with executive dysfunction, time blindness, and project paralysis. Their ideas flow rapidly, but bringing them to completion feels exhausting. Sensory overload and emotional burnout are constant battles.
Family of Origin Wounds & Self-Worth Struggles – Alex grew up feeling misunderstood, unseen, or pressured to conform. Whether it was emotional neglect, narcissistic parents, or being the “weird creative kid,” they learned early on to suppress parts of themselves. Now, they struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, and fear of taking up space.
Perfectionism, Procrastination, and Fear of Failure – Alex has so many creative ideas but often avoids finishing them due to self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism. They long to share their work, but worry it won’t be “good enough” or that others won’t understand it. They get stuck in cycles of overthinking, starting and stopping, and never fully trusting their creative instincts.
Burnout & Emotional Exhaustion – Because Alex feels things deeply, they often push themselves past their limits—whether it’s in their art, relationships, or healing work. They struggle to balance creative passion with rest, boundaries, and emotional regulation.
Religious Trauma & Identity Deconstruction – Alex grew up in a faith tradition that dictated their worth, stifled their creative expression, and suppressed their true self. Whether they were shamed for questioning, for their identity, or for their art, they now wrestle with spiritual disillusionment, guilt, and fear of trusting themselves. They want to rebuild their beliefs, but on their terms.
What Alex Deeply Desires:
To Feel Safe in Their Own Mind & Creative Process – Alex craves a creative flow that doesn’t come with exhaustion, self-doubt, or shame. They want to stop battling their own brain and embrace how it works.
To Overcome Perfectionism & Finish What They Start – They want to move past fear, creative paralysis, and procrastination so they can actually bring their ideas to life.
To Reclaim Their Identity & Creative Voice – After years of religious suppression and family invalidation, they want to create freely—without guilt, fear, or second-guessing.
To Manage Sensory & Emotional Overload – Instead of constantly feeling drained, overwhelmed, or paralyzed, they want to develop sustainable habits that honor their energy and creative cycles.
To Build a Life That Supports Their Creativity – They don’t want to force themselves into neurotypical or capitalistic productivity models. Instead, they want to create in a way that feels aligned, intuitive, and fulfilling.
How I Help Alex:
Therapy for Deep Emotional Healing – Helping them process religious trauma, family wounds, self-worth struggles, and creative shame.
Coaching for Creative Flow & Confidence – Helping them work with their neurodivergence, overcome perfectionism, and finish creative projects.
Healing Sensory & Emotional Regulation – Helping them find how to protect their energy, avoid burnout, and structure their creative life in a way that feels safe.
Unmasking & Embracing Their True Self – Guiding them through reclaiming their creativity, shedding old conditioning, and stepping into their most authentic self.
Why Alex will benefit working with me:
Alex has tried traditional productivity hacks, generic self-help books, and even therapy that didn’t fully “get” them. They need someone who understands:
✔ What it means to be neurodivergent, deeply creative, and emotionally sensitive
✔ The pain of religious trauma, family invalidation, and self-doubt
✔ The struggle of balancing big creative dreams with mental health challenges
They don’t just want another coach, therapist, or self-improvement plan. They need a guide who can help them heal, create, and finally trust themselves again.
